The month ends tomorrow? Too bad, I’m ending it now. Enough February. Let’s have us some March! It’s the Nuttbladder thing again, which went well I guess last month. That time I talked about some currently airing shows. I haven’t watched but one of those in February, which was Sora no Woto. Yikes. First, let’s talk about some peculiar things.
One of the things that anime is surprisingly not very good at is creating a fully-realized fictional ‘world.’ When you open up a fantasy book (and fantasy is of course the best genre for fictional worlds) you are often confronted with a ‘world map’ right off the bat. You will be given details about all sorts of countries and locations and customs, etc., to bring this world to life as you read. The reason that this doesn’t really happen in anime is for the same reason it does happen a whole lot in JRPGs – time.
Today I’m going out to do errands with Noel-chan. I must have been acting pretty uptight before I left, since Rio-sempai tricked me into thinking I’d need a handgun! I guess it was just the thrill of finally being on some kind of mission, ehehe.
Omo has always wanted to do a list like this, and so have I. I think both of us have taken our frustrations out on the What Are You Watching/Reading This Month threads on Megatokyo for long enough. If he sticks to this monthly, I’m sure I’ll manage to follow. As for what this is a list of, it’s a nuttbladder-breaker list. There’s really no way of explaining that if you don’t understand, though Omo kind of tried. This is for January 2010.
I play. You can’t call this the sound of the sky, but I am nevertheless happy to be able to do this. Luckily, I’m far more skilled in the kitchen, so I made a breakfast of miso soup for the team. I was a little worried that my hometown recipe wouldn’t go over well with the girls, but thankfully, they enjoyed it. I suppose if this whole music thing didn’t work out I could… no, let’s not think that way!
After my first morning performance, Rio tells me that I’ll need to do a lot more practice – well, that’s what I more or less expected. She heads back down, and left alone, I take in the majesty of the fortress laid out before me. What a spectacular building… even the bricks that make it up are magnificent. As I take in the sights below, I see a girl walking around. I call out to her, and she yells back “you suck!” …Well, at least I guess it’s good to be honest, though I can’t say my pride is unscathed!
Sound of the Sky episode one was amazing. The art was unbelievably gorgeous and I already love the characters. The voice acting was all-around great and I have to give a special nod to Kobayashi Yuu’s performance as Kazumiya Rio. I couldn’t stop my fingers from taking a ton of screenshots and I had to watch the episode twice. I am definitely excited to see what this show has to offer.
