A lot of the anime and manga we watch and read reflects our own lives in some way. This relatability can often create a deeper bond between the viewer and the story, allowing for greater emotional attachment and response. Many works have a near-universal appeal that may be relatable to just about anyone, but even in these cases, we often have very specific details unique to us that may dictate our personal reactions – stories of our own lives that reflect what we see in anime. I want to hear those stories.
The plan is simple – all you have to do is post your stories of how an anime or manga related to something in your life in some way. What makes this challenge difficult is that you will have to be ready not only to bear all of your personal emotions to yourself, but to the infinite expanse of strangers on the internet. And you will have to bear it all – no holding back. I want to hear the solid truth, so that I can truly understand how your situation related to the work, and why it effected you in the way that it did.
Don’t worry – I won’t make you bear it all on your own. I will, of course, be kicking off the series myself with my own stories of anime and manga reflections. Hopefully, if you or others are too shy to tell your stories, than my extremely embarrassing tales can loosen you up to the idea!
So let’s see it, everyone! This is definitely a project that I want to see done by more than just myself. As much as I love to write them, I also love to read stories of people’s relationships with anime and manga, and I’m sure that these emotional tales can touch the hearts of readers if not even go so far as to further their enjoyment of the works. This could potentially be an extremely powerful series, providing only your willingness to write!
Expect some posts from me in the near future on such works as ef ~a tale of memories~, Onani Master Kurosawa, Iriya no Sora UFO no Natsu, NANA, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and more!
