Image Accreditation: Necessity Through the Filter of Reason.

I am making this post because I am of the opinion that if you want people to support your cause, you shouldn’t insult their intelligence. The cause being brought to attention here is OFP – Online Fanart Protection. Basically, the gist is that Japanese artists don’t like how American bloggers use their images in posts without permission or accreditation. I support the movement for accreditation, but only within the boundaries of reason

Hatsune Miku “The Gods of Olympus Have Abandoned Me” – Moar Hironox

Hironox, whom I did a cumulative post on before, seems to have hit a major patch of inspiration or something as he releases yet another great speedpaint onto drawr. While I say speedpaint, I don’t think hironox did this fast at all, seeing his production video, but I must say it is extremely worth watching. For this image, Hironox comes into it with the idea already of Hatsune Miku in this pose standing on the edge of a building. What really amazes me is how chaotic this image begins. He draws huge blobs of one color invarious places and then draws lines over them, covering the excess with the next coat. For a few minutes, the image is totally unidentifiable until itgradually shapes into what you see above. Hironox seems to confirm my suspicion that he is a total perfectionist and he completely redesigns Miku’s face something like 30 times in the process of creating this picture.

Artist Highlight: ban akira – The Dark Side of the Scarlet Family

On one of my other artist highlights, ETERNAL commented that he was surprised to see Remillia Scarlet actually acting like a vampire instead of looking all moe. I found this a little funny, since the dark side is how I know the Scarlet family. I first got interested in Touhou when I kept running into Remillia pictures when I was searching the tag ‘blood’, and seeing this captivating, dark beauty. Remillia has always been my favorite Touhou girl because of her tendency to be in dark images. So I decided I’d do my next artist highlight on someone who delights in depicting the Scarlet family in a darker way (as well as others like Hatsune Miku)

Artist Highlight: shun – Beautifully Bizarre

Shun is one of my favorite artists and the crown jewel of the random stuff I find in my many hours searching image sites. I’ve used several of his images as desktop backgrounds and hugely enjoy his style.

Artist Highlight: Hironox – Dark, Moody Red and Blue (kira~*)

As you will see, he has a tendency towards making his pictures look pastel-drawn and he also likes things very dark blue or dark red. For some reason, his speed paints have a lot of people with cigarettes in their mouth. This is, of course, totally awesome, since I love characters who smoke, especially if female. He does a range of characters and has a tendency to draw an image multiple ways (see the Black Lagoon one below where they are drawn once with clothes and once without) or with more background added. There is a strong focus onlooking as cool as possible, which is something I can respect : D.

Artist Highlight: Sena – Bishie Boys and Zetsubou Sensei (Kira~*)

Today’s artist highlight is Sena. According to booru, it is a pixiv name, but since it’s pretty much impossible to find an artist on pixiv, I couldn’t get to her profile. So I’ll just be posting some of my favorites and you can click here for more. Sena uses a lot of rich colors and photoshop backgrounds for style and coolness. I think her best work is with darker colors. She does a lot of bishounen, but also a decent amount of girls decked out in stylish clothing. She also seems to enjoy vertical images.

Artist Highlight: kb – Bright Colors, Surrealism, and Hatsune Miku

So I want to do artist highlights. However, sometimes the random artists I find have no way of connecting back to information. I found 8 pictures on several booru by the artist ‘kb’ but due to it not being a pixiv account name and being the abbreviation for ‘kilobyte’, info was impossible to find. So I’ll just dump those images here.
