Blogroll

A list of blogs and websites that I support.

2-D Teleidoscope - This is a very new blog, so there’s not much to say yet, but I love what I see so far from the latest intellectual blog!

Alafista - Alafista is pretty much the clean and accessible version of Sankaku Complex, except where all the news at least actually pertains to Japan. It’s a fun site with a nice design and lots of great pictures, taken by the camera nut of an author who loves to take his Nendoroids out and make snapshots of them in cool places.

Anime Instrumentality Blog - This is a blog for anime music reviews, from a guy who listens to all kinds – singles, OSTs, whatever. He also accepts help from kind souls who want to do some reviews (I currently owe him two!!!) The author, Zzeroparicle (not a typo) also heads the Anime Music Piece of the Week club on MyAnimeList, (known to it’s common posters at the #MALkeionbu), which is a ton of fun.

Anime Nano - THE anime blog aggregater, this is where people go to keep track of the anime blogosphere and see what everyone’s talking about.

Anime News Network - Always has been the number one source for information on any anime known to god. An ANN page is necessary for any of my posts, and I love some of their columns as well, such as Buried Treasure and Hey, Answerman!

Anime wa Bakuhatsu da! - A mild-mannered intellectual blogger with a lot of insight and ponderings to offer on the greater world of anime. The author, OGT, is a really nice guy.

Atarashii PreludeOh, lawd. This is the blog of Shin, a twisted lolicon with no moral compass and no love for the well-endowed. He also loves traps. But his writing is very fun and he’s a cool guy, if a little silly. He has some very steamy fanfiction that I highly recommend to the 18+ audience, lol.

Baka-Raptor - Have you ever heard of Maddox or The Best Page in the Universe? Baka-Raptor is pretty much the anime version of Maddox (he admits that he copied Maddox’s style liberally.) BR is a cool guy, although his style will lead you to think of him as a little bit of a prick, but it’s really all in good fun. There’s an anecdote about BR doing some selfless deeds for someone at Otakon when he and I shared a hotel, so I know he’s a great guy.

Catgirl Cage Fight - I admittedly haven’t been reading thekungfukid’s blog long enough to get a really good feel for it besides that he blogs anime and American comics side-by-side, but the poor guy designed me a bangin’ banner image which only got to stay up for about a week and a half before I changed my blog’s theme. For that, he gets honored here!

Continuing World - Schneider is a huge mecha fanatic who also has quite an eye for quality but is very laid-back and accepting of the greater whole of anime. He likes to talk about older shows, which automatically gains him points in my book.

Drastic My Anime Blog - The Big N is everyone’s friend – a spectacularly nice guy who always tries to make things positive. I’ve hung out with him a bit at Otakon and he’s real cool, if awkward, lol. While TBN is everywhere in the blogosphere commenting on other people’s posts, he unfortunately doesn’t find much time to post on his own blog, and leaves a lot of it to his co-writers NomadOtto and dm.

Eastern StandardES is primarily the blog of Andrew Cunningham, who is my hero. He is an outstanding translator who has worked to bring the Boogiepop franchise to America as well as some other Japanese novels of merit. ES is where he and his buddies, Joe Iglesias, Derek Guder, David Goodwin, and Wally Xie talk about pretty much any interesting things they discover and share them with the world. I recommend this blog as highly as I can.

Epic Win Anime Blog - Epic Win lives up to it’s name as Orion and Guff deliver amusing posts on anime with great style and fun. I’ve only started reading it recently, but I love it.

FAKKU! - NSFW! 18+! Fakku! is a site for pornographic anime manga, mainly doujinshi, as well as videos and other downloadable content. I, uh, recommend it >.>

Circling Wolves - This is Funeral’s latest blogging attempt, and as it stands there’s nothing there yet but some about pages. Funeral swears he’ll get around to it, but god knows when that could happen.

GAR GAR Stegosaurus - I LOVE female author A Day Without Me (I wonder if she’d consider my hand in marriage?) She’s a great gal with a great style and is fun to read, plus she is the first to get really into my Diary of an Anime Lived series and post several of her own entries. Her and my interests often differ, and I do think that some of her posts could be researched a little better, but any fan of Utena is pretty much a friend of mine~

Haiku Anime Review - Anime reviews – done episodically – written in haiku

HappySoda - Writer Super Rats is a great guy and his figure blog is outstanding. Besides being the paradigm of great web design, his images are gorgeous and he has given widely used tutorials on how to get the best pictures of anime figures. As such, he is very well-respected.

Guzen - This is the seldom-updated blog of my best friend No Name. He pretty much talks about nothing here and uses gigantic images.

kritik der animationskraft - This is easily the most fun I have with intellectual bloggers. Anime Kritik will tie anything into philosophy and huge theories that, whether or not they make sense, are presented so well that they become a blast to read every time. He’s also a huge fan of mine, and I love the guy :D

Low on Hit Points - Very long-winded titles and a decent range of subject matter, Low on hit Points rarely agrees with me opinion-wise, but the author is a very reasonable guy who likes to talk things out. I have a lot of respect for that, even if their super-protected commenting system always gets me!

Meaty Anime Blog - Beefy-weefs is one of my favorite people, but about a year ago he largely became inactive on the internet and never got back to the absurd level of activity he had when he was a NEET. Still, beefy is a super-fun guy who bought me porn once and deserves credit for that!

Memories of Eternity - ETERNAL is a very emotional guy who loves drama and moe girls, but I warn that even though he’s a cool guy and has some interesting views, he is insanely long-winded and can be very difficult to read at times.

Mistakes of Youth - Wildarmsheero is an asshole among assholes, and everyone knows this. Also, he hates me. However, his webcomic is hilarious, and when he’s not fagging it up, his blog has a great wealth of interesting information and anime research. I owe a lot of my fandom to WAH, so as much as I can’t stand him, I have to give him props.

NOTDOTQ - Lolikitsune is a bizarre and troubled man, and he loves this fact. NOTDOTQ is almost not worth reading unless you know lolikitsune and all of his friends very well because the blog is pretty much entirely consistent of in-jokes and meta-love. LK is one of my biggest supporters and helped get Fuzakenna where it is, so you know I love the guy.

OGIUE MANIAX - Exactly as the name suggests, the author here is a huge fan of the character Ogiue from Genshiken and goes out of his way to find fujoshi in manga to talk about. OGIUE is always a fun and interesting read, and luckily it is updated very frequently. The author also knows Japanese and talks a lot about cool stuff he finds out that can’t really be found stateside. I also envy him a lot.

Omonomono - Omo’s writing can probably be described as ‘esoteric’ at best and ‘confounding’ at worst. Omo writes everything in a cryptic and occasionally totally bullshit way that makes it near impossible to understand exactly what he’s saying at any given time. However, he’s also been an otaku since the dawn of time and has boatloads of interesting insights on otaku culture. Omo is another blogger who had a massive impact on my own fandom, so my props go out.

Suspended Animation Dreams - X is sitting in his chair. He’s half white, and I’m half blue.

The Animanachronism - IKnight is a hyper-intellectual blogger who is easy to love. His posts are a joy to read and usually very interesting. The only problems are that his updates are infrequent, and because he almost singularly talks about military and mecha action anime, there is little there to read for someone like me who isn’t necessarily interested in military anime.

The Scrumptious Anime Blog - A chick-run blog with strong yaoi tendencies. A fun read, but I only started with them very recently, so I can’t say much.

Towards Our Memories - Shiro is also known as ‘mister sunshine,’ a guy who lives EVERYTHING, and I do mean EVERYTHING. It’s damn near impossible for him to really dislike an anime, and he consumes at a pretty incredible rate. Unfortunately, he has evidently given up on blogging since he hasn’t posted here in like 6 months, but what’s there is still worth reading.

We Remember Love - And here we have the big one! My mainest of main men, Ghostlightning! I can’t even tell you how much I love Ghostlightning, long and by far my favorite anime blogger, with a great attitude, unbounded friendliness and love, and best of all, despite being in the blogging business for way less time than me (and being about 3 times as popular already) he has taken me under his wing to train me in the ways of… everything! GL is as cool a guy as you’ll ever meet, and I can’t tell you enough how much it’s worth reading his blog shrine.

Why So Hostile? - Run by Cymbaline, this blog doesn’t really cover anime anymore, mostly music and video games with movies here and there, but it’s good stuff. Just know that all of it’s really, really angry. Cymbaline is the kind of guy who is mostly there to point out the weaknesses in a game even if he likes it, so be ready for biting criticism at all times, usually rife with very strategically-placed profanity.

Zero Punctuation - I’m sure you’ve heard of Ben ‘Yahtzee’ Croshaw, the game video reviewer who works for The Escapist. ZP’s videos are the best mix of ‘hilarious’ and ‘ingenious’ and a laughing good riot for 5 minutes every Wednesday. It’s always great to take his reviews with a massive grain of salt, and just have fun with what you hear, even if you disagree strongly.

/a/ - It’s 4chan’s anime board. Inexperienced users are NOT advised to go there.
